Its residents have a high life expectancy, and a high rate of school attendance, and access to electricity and safe water. The first councillor of this constituency was Henk Mudge (DTA). In 2002 Sophia Shaningwa (SWAPO) won the seat and served for a six-year term. Since 2010, Shikwetepo Haindongo (SWAPO) is councillor of Windhoek West.
